Hazyview is the "Adventure Hub" of Mpumalanga, with a number of adventure activities ranging from Hot Air Ballooning, Helicopter flights to Elephant Rides and anything in-between.

Abseiling

Sabie River Adventure Abseiling takes place at Makuhlu, a 27 m towering boulder. its the ideal abseil venue, with an comfortable hike up the back of the cliff and a vertical drop at the front. Great rock formations and breathtaking views add "spice" to this  thrilling experience.

 

The site offers spectacular views across the Lowveld, Sabie River and Kruger National Park,  which makes "going over the edge" a onforgetale experience!

A minimum of 4 abseils per person. The rate includes the transfer from the Sabie River Adventure Centre to the abseil site and return.

 

Abseiling is commonly practiced the world over as a method of descending a rope in a safe and controlled manner.

Archery

Your introduction to the art of archery. Standard "long-bows", which are fairly easy to master are used."long - bows" & "target games" This is a fun-activity with various disciplines or "target games" - suitable for groups, and equally enjoyed by men and women.

The duration of this activity is about 1.5 to 2 hours.

 

Quad Biking

Induna Adventures Trails

Is located just outside Hazyview on the Panorama Route and only 20 minutes drive from the Kruger National Park, Induna Adventures is one of the biggest Quad Trail operators in the country with more than 40 Quad Bikes in our fleet. They take pride in their unique trails, professional guides and Quality Suzuki Quads. Trails are guided by professional guides and trails follow hand cut quad tracks through indigenous forests and blue gum plantations to spectacular water fall view points.

Motor Biking

Ride the famous "22 Road".

This is a windy stretch of tarred road between the towns of Hazyview and Sabie, it is well known amongst riders for the most exhilarating rush of adrenaline on two wheels!

Hazyview is  home to the Sabie Valley BMW Motorrad Rider Academy, as well as the Off-Road Rider Academy.

Enroll for a one-day or weekend course in Road Riding, or Off-Road Riding. Several courses are available, and are aimed at all brands of Adventure motorcyclists.

 

River Rafting

Raft the lower-Sabie River in 2-man inflatable "croc rafts".  A picnic meal on the banks of the river can be arranged on request. Children allowed, subject to water levels. The Sabie River is one of the cleanest river systems in the country with a diverse fish population and prolific bird life. Eight kilometer course with 20 rapids (grade 2-3). Life jackets, helmets and all other safety equipment provided.

 

White Water Tubing

Shoot the exhilarating rapids on the upper-Sabie River, where the scenery is spectacular. Specially designed, square shaped tubes, manufactured by "ARK" are used. Tubes, life jackets, helmets, trained river guides and light refreshments are provided. Wetsuits are available for rental during winter months. Not suitable for children under 14 years

 

Half Day White Water rafting in two man inflatables(Crocks), Grade 2 & 3 Rapids. Qualified guides, equipment, snacks and transport from Induna Adventure Centre to the river and back provided.

 

Geckoing

Geckoing is the by far one of the best adventure activities that humans came up with - it rocks! A Gecko is a small inflatable raft that you steer with webbed gloves, no paddles needed! Geckoing takes place in the upper part of the Sabie River where the gradient is quite steep and the river is narrow due to the steep sides of the gorge. One of the highlights of the trip is an optional 8 meter jump from a cliff into a deep pool next to a thundering waterfall. A degree of fitness is needed as you need to scamper over slippery rocks and walk out of the gorge at the end of the trip. Each trips is accompanied by well-trained swift-water guides who ensure the trip is safe and fun. To ensure a lasting memory video or still camera footage can be arranged. Children older than 12 years allowed.

 

Elephant Experiences

Get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals. Experienced elephant handlers will share their in-depth knowledge of fascinating elephant behavior.

 

Helicopter Scenic Flights

Cascades (45 minutes) - Fly along the Sabie River towards Sabie town. Over the Mac Mac, Lisbon & Berlin Falls, the Pinnacle and God's Window.

Cascades & Canyon Delight (1 hour) - Fly along the Sabie River towards Sabie town. Over the Mac Mac, Lisbon & Berlin Falls, the Pinnacle, God's Window and the Blyde River Canyon.

 

Cascades & Canyon Spectacular (1½ hours) (Hazyview Areas) - Depart from Hazyview and fly along the Sabie River towards Sabie town. Over the Mac Mac, Lisbon & Berlin Falls, the Pinnacle, God's Window and Blyde River Canyon. Land at a sight with magnificent views of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, and enjoy a picnic accompanied by South African Sparkling wine.

Cascades & Canyon Spectacular (2½ hours) (Sabi Sand, Timbavati). - Depart from Sabi Sand or Timbavati areas and fly along the Sabie River towards Sabie town. Over the Mac Mac, Lisbon & Berlin Falls, the Pinnacle, God's Window and Blyde River Canyon. Land at a sight with magnificent views of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, and enjoy a picnic accompanied by South African Sparkling wine.

 

Horse Trails

Horse trails winding through the beautiful Lowveld scenery of the Sabana River, indigenous bush and fruit orchards. Beginner, intermediate and advanced horse trails. Children also welcome. You may also catch a glimpse of small antelope like the red duiker, and if you are a bird watcher you'll be in paradise!  Also Moonlight Trails at full-moon.

Horse Safaris

Guided horse trails and safaris on a 2 000 hectare wildlife conservancy situated 2km from Hazyview. Home-bred polo ponies which are hardy and easy to manage. There are various trails available, from meandering rambles to long open canters which suit all levels of riding ability. Rides start at the homestead from where you head into the Sandford Conservancy, passing from open fields into woodland forests and river valleys.  Weight limit of 90kg.

 

Zipline

Strap yourself onto a high speed pulley running on a 450m long cable, descending a mountain at a gradient of 45 degrees. Reach a speed of up to 100km/h with wind screaming in your ears and trees flashing by. Anybody can do it as long as you fit into the harness. Youngsters can go tandem with adults if they prefer. Height: 77 meters Length: 450 meters Speed: up to 100 km/h

 

Kloofing

Experience rock hopping, bum sliding, pool crawling, hiking, river traversing and cliff jumping on the upper part of the Sabie River where the gradient is quite steep and the river is narrow due to the steep sides of the gorge.

You are in the water the whole time, swimming through the pools, exploring potholes and jumping off rocks and cliffs into the river. Climbing Wall

The 16m climbing wall has 3 levels of difficulty to cater for first timers to experienced climbers. Stability, balance and leg strength are the key factors, not upper-body strength - so it is perfect for all ages, from expert climbers to children. Wall climbing simulates rock climbing. Artificial grips on the wall act as foot and hand holds to make your way to the top. To prevent you from falling a climbing rope is fastened to your harness which is controlled by a belayer - this means you can't fall.

 

Mountain Biking

(Guided Trails, Self-Guided Trails & Bike Rentals)

The Sabie Valley between Sabie and Hazyview is a world class Mountain Bike Destination. Trails are not only smooth but also very scenic and characterized by river crossings, single tracks and sights of breathtaking waterfalls.

 

Green Trail - 5 km

This route on farm roads, flowing quad tracks and meanders along the Sabaan River. It covers a lot of indigenous forest sections.

 

Red Trail - 8 km

This is the official Induna X-Fest lap race route. Trail takes you through indigenous forest and though a fast flowing bush tunnel.

 

Grey Trail - 15 km

Mostly on blue gum plantation roads with steep up and downs. A lot of climbing but the 2 waterfalls with lookout points make it worth all the way.

 

Blue Trail - 10 km

The flattest trail we have, with only one steep up hill at the beginning and a great view of a breath taking cascade water fall.

 

Black Trail - 11 km

The best 11 km ride of your life!

 

Yellow Trail - 35 km

Lots of single tracks, forest roads, river crossings and water falls.

 

Kayaking

Kayaking on the Sabie River (class 3 and 4 rapids) is for everybody and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in a healthy way. Suitable for the beginner, expert or weekend warrior.  An edited DVD of your whole kayaking experience can be arranged!

 

Paint ball

It is a fun, healthy and technical exercises involving strategy, stealth and quick thinking. Played in an indigenous forest next to a small river. The river forms the one border and a steep embankment form the other natural border. There are trees and rock formations to use as cover. Semi-automatic guns that allow you to shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger. A guide accompanies each game to explain the equipment and rules. We supply the paintball guns, paintballs and protective eyewear & clothing. Children older than 12 years allowed.

 

Hiking

Winding along the scenic Mac Mac River, this is an easy walk of about 14km. Lush vegetation and an impressive number of bird, tree and fish species are to be found in the ample stretches of shade and riverbanks.

Bum sliding and swimming in the cool water pools of the Mac Mac River ensures a day filled with fun and laughter.

 

Sunset Cruise

Enjoy nature's tranquilizing effect while watching the African sunset over a picturesque dam. Floating on an inflatable raft at sunset is a unique experience and allows you to kick back, forget about your troubles and relax completely (and you won't get wet). For corporate groups delicacies and liqueurs are served on a floating table by candlelight.

 

Big Swing

Experience the adrenalin rush with a 68m free-fall at 180km/hour in under 3 seconds on one of the world's highest Cable Gorge Swings!  Or fly across a panoramic gorge on a 130m high and 135m long High-wire ("foefie slide"). Tandem swings (max. combined weight of 200kg) also available on the 2.5 ton breaking strain safety ropes.  Highly trained, professional instructors and impeccable safety record. Professionally made DVD of your experience (in case they don't believe you).

 

Aerial Cable Trail

Experience the thrill of Africa's longest aerial cable trail! Glide freely over one of the last remaining natural forest along the Sabie River Valley.

The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below. All groups are escorted by qualified guides. Maximum weight 120kg.

 

4x4 Trails

Meet at Mac Mac Forest Retreat (halfway between Sabie & Graskop) at 08:00am. After coffee and a briefing you depart for Mauchberg (2,115m above sea level). The route will take you through pine plantations, patches of indigenous forests, and stunning views. The route follow the existing forestry roads, so the focus is not obstacle orientated, but rather on scenery. From the top of Mauchberg you will enjoy spectacular views over the Escarpment area. On a clear day places like Sabie, Graskop, Mariepskop, Nyaka dam, and Forest Falls will be pointed out.

 

Caving

The Crystal Tour at Sudwala Caves penetrates 2km deep into the bowels of Mother Earth to the outskirts of the Crystal Chamber, with its splendid array of sparkling aragonite crystals. Moderately difficult, with some stretches of crawling involved. Negotiate the natural tunnels, some of which contain water. You must be prepared to get a little wet and dirty! Usually the first Saturday of each month for groups of up to 30 people. Bring old clothes (not jeans), boots/firm footwear, torch with long-life batteries, towel and change of clothes.

 

Bridge Swing

Climb over the bridge railing of the 30 meter high Sabie Falls Bridge and jump back as far as you can, to end up swinging into the picturesque gorge of the Sabie Falls. You can also do, what is called, the Suicide Jump, where you stand behind the railing, facing forward and jumping down. A static rope is used, which is kept tight at all times, to ensure an ultra-smooth, jerk-free swing. You will be kitted out with a safety harness, assisted by trained adventure guides.

 

Boat Cruise - Blyde River Canyon

Enjoy the splendor of the third largest Canyon in the world. An interpretation tour by a tour guide will take you to the rare living Kadishi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels. An abundance of wildlife will keep you distracted while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon. Scheduled tours at 11:00 and 15:00.Minimum 6 people, maximum 50 people.
